Two tickets to the recording of the hugely popular Radio 4 comedy show ‘The News Quiz’. This will also include a tour of BBC Broadcasting House in London to see the Radio 4 Continuity Studios, The Today Programme Studios and watch a Shipping Forecast broadcast. You will then be taken to the BBC café for a refreshing drink before sitting in the audience of The News Quiz (in the Radio Theatre at Broadcasting House). With an eclectic line-up spanning music and the arts, exquisite feasting and dining experiences, talks and debates that will inspire, a family field to keep the little ones entertained as well as a variety of woodland fun to explore, it’s safe to say WIlderness is your perfect weekend escape!

#4. COMMISSIONED PORTRAIT IN OIL BY DUNCAN SHOOSMITH
A head and shoulders portrait, oil on canvas, unframed. Size to be decided by winning bidder - either 16” x 20” or 20” x 24”. Duncan Shoosmith was the winner of the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the year 2019 which was filmed at the National Portrait Gallery and screened in April 2019. During this programme he painted portraits of Jodie Comer, Courtney Pine, Dame Cleo Laine, Laura Linney, and finally a painting of Sir Tom Jones which now hangs in the permanent collection of the National Museum of Wales. He has also exhibited twice in the BP Portrait Awards. Duncan first discovered his love of art whilst a student at Marlborough College. Self taught, he has been painting for 28 years and now lives in Wiltshire where he combines painting from home and looking after his three young children. His ability to capture striking resemblance of his subjects, both young and old, is achieved by a brilliant, bold and structural style of painting based on an intense observation from life. Duncan will require one sitting, during which he will take photos and then complete the work in his studio - demanding minimal sitting time from the subject.
Date of sitting to be arranged by December 2020 on a mutually convenient date. He will travel to the winning bidder’s house. Travel costs will be charged if beyond a 25 mile radius of Oxford. Portrait to be completed within a year from sitting. Kindly donated by Duncan Shoosmith

#6. OWN YOUR OWN RACEHORSE FOR A SEASON
Ever dreamt of owning your own racehorse? Here is an opportunity to own a National Hunt racehorse for a season with free training by Graeme McPherson. Graeme’s 80 box National Hunt yard is situated near Stow-on-the-Wold in 200 acres of glorious Cotswold countryside. He has enjoyed substantial success in recent years, and this lot gives you the opportunity to be part of that success next season. Graeme will train a National Hunt racehorse for you for free for a season. If you need a horse, he will provide the horse for free as well! The horse will run in your name and colours at the races. You will receive Owners’ badges and enjoy full access to the owners’ facilities at the racecourse each time that the horse runs. Trophies and prize money won by the horse during the season are yours to keep. It is not unusual for this prize money to exceed the winning bid for this lot - although of course no guarantees can be made! In addition, you are welcome to visit the yard as often as you wish to see your horse exercising on the gallops and schooling over hurdles or fences, and then stay for breakfast and plenty of stable talk! Four tickets to watch the recording of the phenomenally popular BBC quiz show Pointless at Elstree Studios, London. Come as guests of the presenter Alexander Armstrong and chat with him after the show. Filmed early next year, the specific date will be confirmed by Alexander Armstrong and the production team. Alexander Armstrong is a successful comedian, actor, writer, television presenter and singer. Perhaps he is best known as one half of the comedy duo Armstrong and Miller who starred in four series of ARMSTRONG AND MILLER and THE ARMSTRONG AND MILLER SHOW. He has hosted the BBC series HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU more than 20 times and has co-presented the much-loved TV quiz show POINTLESS, alongside Richard Osman since 2009. Must be 18 or older. #9. WORLD CLASS MUSICAL SOIRÉE WITH LI-JIA & KAREN SUTER, TOGETHER WITH CANAPÉS FOR 25
Imagine a magical musical soirée to enliven your special occasion, be it a public event or a private function. Violinist Li-Jia and Pianist Karen Suter will come together, for the purpose of the Dragon Sale, and customise a duet performance with an array of music to bring uniqueness to any occasion. Accompanying this performance will be a selection of canapés from local catering company ‘Olives and Canapés’.
Redeemable on a mutually convenient date between April - December, 2020. Length of performance will be 50 minutes. Travel distance within 1 hr of Oxford preferred. Venue will require an in-tune piano.

About Li-Jia. Born into a musical family in China, Li-Jia began learning the violin at 4 with her father, Liang-Cai Li. At the age of 8, she was discovered in Beijing by The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and The BBC Symphony Orchestra and was awarded scholarships to The Purcell School, and later to Oxford University and The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she studied with Yfrah Neaman. Her mentor and accompanist for many years was the pianist Adela Kotowska, who played for such violin legends as Fritz Kreisler and Ida Haendel. Li-Jia gave her first solo recital at the age of 11 in London, whereupon the music critic, Denby Richards, wrote,‘The assurance and confidence of this young player delivers its own message of musical love and natural potential.’ Music and Musicians. At 13, she was the youngest soloist to appear with The Singapore Symphony Orchestra, where her performance was especially attended by the Founding Father of Singapore, Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. Li-Jia has performed as a soloist with orchestras and in recitals in the UK, Europe, North America and the Far East, as well as appearing on television and radio. As a busy mum of 4 Dragons, she is also a passionate and dedicated teacher, giving lessons and master classes from Li-Jia’s Music Studio. Critics have written, ‘The soulful magic from her violin revealed an extraordinary depth and sensitivity.’ The full-coloured pyrotechnics, the flawless execution of the most bizarre fingerboard antics showed virtuosity at its purest.’
About Karen Suter. Karen began learning the piano aged 3 and had already achieved Grade VIII Distinction by the age of 9. Subsequently studying at both the Junior and Intermediate Royal Academy of Music and more locally at Oxford High School, Karen won the national competition ‘Young Pianist of the Year’ and went on to read Music at London University, winning a post-graduate scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music with Hamish Milne and Geoffrey Pratley. Specializing in chamber music, she won the major accompaniment and chamber music prizes going on to make appearances at the Purcell Room, including the Park Lane Contemporary Series, on BBC Radio and Classic FM as well as on television.
Tours in Great Britain have been under the auspices of the Countess of Munster, John Tunnell, National Federation of Music Societies and the Making Music Recital Schemes. Concerts throughout the United States and Europe include recitals given with principal players from the Royal Concertgebouw, LPO, and Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Recent projects include concerts with members of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in the orchestra’s ‘Chamber Music Series’. Karen has also toured extensively with the clarinettist, Sue Gill, both as a duo and as a member of the ensemble ‘Erard’. As well as performing, Karen also has a busy teaching career now as Head of Keyboard at the Dragon having previously taught at St John’s Beaumont, New College School and St. Paul’s Juniors.

Enjoy a production of the ever popular opera La Bohème from the luxury of your own private box at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Puccini’s music and Richard Jones’s production capture the joy and heartache of young love in Paris. This heart wrenching opera will be performed by the Royal Opera on Friday 31st January 2020, at 7.30pm. The box seats 4–6 people (some seats with restricted view) and dinner may be ordered and taken in the adjoining retiring room around the performance - to be paid for separately. #13. A PORTRAIT DRAWING IN CHARCOAL BY JENNY SAVILLE, entitled, 'Twelve 2019'
Here is a rare opportunity to own a piece of work by the renowned artist Jenny Saville.
A portrait drawing in charcoal on watercolour paper of the artist’s son, to celebrate his last year at the Dragon School. Measuring 76x57cm unframed.
Jenny Saville is a contemporary British painter and an original member of the Young British Artists. She is probably best known for her large scale oil paintings of fleshy, female figures. Saville’s work invokes a deep fascination in the palpability of flesh and the extremities of anatomy.
She is represented by The Gagosian Gallery, has exhibited at various international Museums and has work in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum in New York, The Broad Foundation in Los Angeles, The Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney, and The National Gallery, Scotland.
