Dragon Sale Philanthropists

In 2019 over 200 industrious Dragons came together to run an incredible 70 Dragon pupil stalls at the Sale.

We were delighted that children from every year in the school, including pre-prep, worked together to plan, develop and create a wonderful range of stalls from Splat the Christmas Pudding and Reindeer Hula to Dragon Designers and Monster Mania.

The Dragon champions the values of philanthropy and enterprise, instilling in the children not just the knowledge that they can make a difference in the world but the confidence to get out there and do it!

Within each year group they learn about responsible giving and how the money we raise can touch the lives of so many locally, nationally and internationally. They then learn about specific charities and vote to donate a proportion of the Sale funds to those charities.

In addition to this, there is the opportunity for any pupil or member of staff to apply for funds for a charity that helps children and families that they feel a connection with and meets with one of our 5 key themes:

Providing School Breakfasts to Children in Poverty

Shamefully, 1.8million children in the UK arrive at school with an empty stomach.

Improving Access to Sport

In the UK, almost 50% of young people don't take part in sport on a weekly basis.

Access to Education for Children in Poverty abroad

There is a $39 billion deficit in the funding necessary to deliver quality education to all children around the world by 2030.

Lightening the load for children who are young carers

At least 2 children in every classroom in Oxfordshire are young carers.

Supporting those children with mental health problems, specifically those with special needs or affected by poverty, abuse and neglect.

1 in 5 children experience a mental health problem at some point during childhood, but many do not get effective, timely support.

Charities and organisations that benefit from our Sale are chosen and recommended by our pupils as part of the school's Social Impact Programme. We no longer accept requests from charities directly.
